Pricing Board

The pricing Board offers advanced methods of altering your sales prices for a number of commercial applications and scenarios: it’s a sophisticated charging schedule tool.

Location: Trade Manager, Service Development

Overview

Imagine that your business is a pub and off-licence. Imagine that you ran a competitive pricing policy for the most part of the day, that you had Happy Hour between 5pm and 7pm, that the pub turned into a club at midnight, and that you had a website where you sold drink.

Drinks would be priced differently in each of these situations. You would have a base price that you would use during the day, which would be competitive with other pubs in the area. You would have discounted prices in Happy Hour and for selling bottles on the Internet, and you would ramp prices up after midnight. You would have to have four different pricing schedules. In addition, entry to the pub would be free during the day, and you might charge a fee from midnight onwards.

The effort of changing and applying pricing schedules could become a barrier to undertaking the project, and doing it at the time could cause a lot of mistakes. This could lead to both unhappy customers and staff.

Business Administrators Pricing Board takes the risk away. It allows you to set different prices for different times and for different applications.

In the scenario above, you could set the base price of your drinks for competitive daytime prices. You could reduce prices for Happy Hour between 5pm and 7pm by 20%, reduce prices for Internet sales by 35%, and increase prices for club events by 25%. Having set them, these would be the prices that users, your salespeople, would see when using Business Administrator.

In addition, you can set the Pricing Board against groups of products, against packages, time and services. You can also apply different schedules between different businesses, different branches or different departments.

And you can apply Pricing Board to once off special events, and even cater for seasonal pricing adjustments.

Hierarchy of application

Business Administrator constantly looks for what charges should be made at any particular time or location. If it finds one, it will simply apply it as you requested.

But if there is more than one pricing schedule that applies, Business Administrator will apply them in chronological order based on when they were entered on the system. In other words, the oldest schedule is used first and is modified by newer items.

We recommend you keep the usage of Pricing Board simple. Allowing it to become complex may allow unexpected scenarios.
