The law

UK law allows the recording of information about entities to a degree, and Business Administrator is more than capable of breaching those laws if you let it. You can record information that is not private, you can record information that is private if you have a legitimate use for it, but you must protect all information from falling into any one else’s hands.

The golden rule here is to think before you record any information.

Overview

In developing business relationships, it’s often handy to know people who know your targets: it may be possible to gain support from them as you pitch to the target. It’s also useful, of course, if you want more people to pitch to.

This dialogue allows you to build relationships between people and companies that are already on your system. You can record the types of relationships they have, and you can record any commentary that is useful.

CRM lists all the contacts on your system, and shows what relationships those contacts have to anyone else on your system, and the types of relationship they have. Business Administrator can sometimes infer a relationship, but it usually relies on you to do this, using this dialogue.

For example, if you record two companies at a single address, Business Administrator will make the assumption that the companies know each other. Similarly, people working within a firm are also likely to know one another.

The important thing is to ensure you gain the culture of updating the CRM system as soon as any information comes to hand. It’s also vital to update their contact details.

This dialogue allows you to accurately define the relationships between people and companies, so defining your business network.
